Youth and Family Counsellor

I have provided counselling services in a variety of organisational and not-for-profit settings for nearly 15 years. I’m an experienced and empathic therapist with a particular interest in CBT, solution-focused therapy and goals work. My philosophy is to provide my clients with a comprehensive and holistic service by empowering personal growth. I aim to provide my clients with the skills and coping strategies to minimise and manage stressful existing and future stressful situations. I hold qualifications in psychology, counselling and rehabilitation counselling.

Youth and Family Counsellor

What drew me to becoming a counsellor was the desire to affirm the value within each person by coming alongside them on their healing journey. I believe everyone has the right to be heard, validated and supported and by creating a safe, respectful and accepting environment people are able to grow, change and heal. My work involves supporting 12 -18 year olds often in schools as this is an accessible way of engaging youth and working with the school’s wellbeing team. I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling as well as a Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Family Therapy. The values I hold that are utilised in my role as a youth counsellor are compassion, connection, curiosity and genuineness.

Youth and Family Counsellor

Working with young people and coming alongside them as they navigate the day to day is the greatest privilege. With a background in visual arts I integrate creativity in therapy to help break down the stigma around mental health and let young people be seen, heard and valued exactly as they are. I work to make therapy as accessible as possible and meet those needing support wherever works best for them; whether it be at their school or the privacy of an office. I hold a Masters of Counselling as well as a Bachelor of Visual arts.
